New cohort of communications operators join Hertfordshire Constabulary

Hertfordshire Constabulary formally welcomed nine new recruits to the Force Communications Room (FCR).

They celebrated with friends and family at their graduation ceremony last Friday at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City. To mark the completion of their training they were also presented with certificates.

The recruits will be part of a team who respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, live chat and online crime reports around the clock 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

They hail from a variety of different backgrounds including a former black cab driver, an ex-police officer, a postwoman, a Border Force worker, an Army reservist, a Prison Service worker and someone with marketing experience.

FCR Digital and Innovation Manager Richard Wilde said: “It’s great to welcome our new communications operators to the team.

“They have recently completed weeks of intensive training and are now ready to help those who need us. This will be a challenging but highly rewarding role, and I wish them all the very best.”
