WMP in Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers for second year running

Last year the force achieved accreditation to deliver its own apprenticeship programmes in Force Contact and Business Administration.

West Midlands Police has made it into the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers in the country for the second year in a row alongside companies such as Amazon, BAE Systems, Lloyds Bank and Mitchells & Butlers.

The force has more than 400 apprentices working across IT, Training, Accountancy, Legal Services, Forensics, Data analysis and police officers earning a degree while on the job through the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.

T/Superintendent Sarah Tambling, Head of Training said: “We’re helping many people that might traditionally face barriers to employment to take that first step into a rewarding career. We’re proud that our apprenticeships are opening doors in everything from IT and Forensics to frontline policing.

Last year the force achieved accreditation to deliver its own apprenticeship programmes in Force Contact and Business Administration.

It also recently introduced a new ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) team, made up of 15 Level 4 Data Analyst Apprentices. The team includes both officers and staff, working closely to improve road safety by identifying cloned or stolen vehicles and those suspected of being involved in criminal activity.
